It’s been three years since Yona and her son Jeffrey started life in Canada. Yona’s escape from North Korea led to a heart-wrenching decision: leaving her half-Chinese son behind in China while she sought refuge in South Korea. Believing he had been abandoned, Yona eventually managed to bring Jeffrey to Canada.
This observational documentary offers glimpses into a family fractured by borders, now striving to mend the bonds forged over 15 years of separation.
Daily conversations and shared activities offer a window into their world, yet frustrations simmer as their emotions navigate the divides that have kept them apart.

This film has been made possible with the support of the Ontario Arts Council.
